Couldn't this mean "he came to us"?

It can. Also "he will come to us" (the same way "he is coming" in English can indicate future) .

The question was to translate "הוא בא אלינו" into English. I entered "he came to us" and it said I was wrong.

he will come to us "הוא יבוא אלינו". the slang "הוא בא אלינו" to express that someone will come is wrong

I think that you have to say הוא יבוא עלינו for he will come to us.

Would saying, "הוא בא לאנחנו," be incorrect?

Is Elenu or could be Alenu also?

Well, עָלֵ֫ינוּ on us and אֵלֵ֫ינוּ to us had and still have different pronunciations, only in the forms אֲלֵיכֶם and אֲלֵיהֶם aroused a confusion, which led to the creation of the new forms [eleykhem] and [eleyhem].
