In the Clothing skill Lua translates to 'beanie' but I am not familiar with the word beanie, at least not in the context of something one wears. What exactly is it?

My dictionary gives Lua as a cap so I assume it is something worn on the head.

You've already had some good answers, but I can also recommend a Google image search for "lue" to see how Norwegians interpret the word.

It covers several narrower and often regional terms in English, which leads to plenty of confusion in the sentence discussions.

Yes, it's a little cap with a button on top, hence the name beanie. There's no, or a very small visor, At least that's what it looks like here. I imagine it's similar in Norway.
