i think "the next table " translates better to "to epomeno trapezi".. i guess if you want to avoid people considering "next" as in sequence, then the sentence should be changed so it is more clear that the table is next to something and not next in line :)

I think 'the next table is wood' also ought to be accepted

A probably better translation of διπλανός would be adjacent (see also http://www.wordreference.com/gren/%ce%b4%ce%b9%cf%80%ce%bb%ce%b1%ce%bd%cf%8c%cf%82).

As with other sentences in this lesson, I think adjacent is more matural in English AND a more accurste translation kf the Greek.

made of wood = φτιαγμένο από ξύλο. Word-for-word Tom! ;) (The meaning is exactly the same of course.)

All I can think of is somewhere with a selection of different tables, like a furniture store or a restaurant patio with mismatched furniture.

Is this the same as το επόμενο τραπέζι?

επόμενο would be "next" as in "next in a sequence, following" rather than "nearest, nearby, adjacent".
