If they are synonymous, the sentence doesn't make sense.
Isn't a mug or bögre bigger than a cup or csésze?
And even if they meant exactly the same, this is still a conceivable sentence - unless you're saying they people never utter tautologies.
They are not synonyms - in English or Hungarian.
