Guys, I am not native speaker, but don't you think the English sentence should be rather like 'does this small lizard run...' etc.?


Not necessarily. It is a common way of asking, especially when you are surprised to hear something. "Really?? This little lizard?? Across the river?? This small lizard runs across the river?".
The Hungarian version can also convey that sense.
