Sportsman = athlete? Or what is wrong with this: "What is the sportsman standing on?"

That should be an okay translation.

"What does the athlete stand on?"

Is there a difference? Should this be ok?

Nothing, This is good.

So it is not yet accepted as a good answer.

The sound is "Minimum áll a sportoló" but the correct answer according to the app is "Min áll a sportoló". There is an error here.

What is the athlete standing on? - was not accepted. Is it o.k. or not?

It is (at least now) the preferred solution.

Should ´What is the athlete standing in?´ also be accepted?

No. "-ben" is used as the suffix when someone is standing in something, so the sentence would then be "Miben áll a sportoló?"
