What are the connotations of συζυγος, please?

σύζυγος = husband

άντρας/άνδρας = man

In Greek you can say Ο άντρας μου while referring to your husband but you cannot say Ο σύζυγός μου and refer to anyone else who is not married to you.

  • Ο σύζυγός μου = my husband

  • Ο άντρας μου = my husband OR my man (expression that can be used also between two men)

Please let me know if the above is not clear enough.

That is useful to know but the statement is 'the man' and duolingo accepts σύζυγό ?

Yes, we accept both translations because both are valid. The best translation is:

  • The man pays = Ο άντρας πληρώνει.

Πληρώνει ο άντρας wasn't accepted :(
