у её матери есть все vs Её сыновья любят прыгать.

Why is the second one without у and the first one with у

I've been mostly only using у неё него меня etc for posession. I didn't realize that it could be used in such a case.

"У её матери есть..." literally means "By her mother there is...", and this structure is the Russian equivalent of the verb to have.

"Её сыновья", on the other hand, simply means "her sons".
