Sharing translation credit

This is very nice, since many times I make little corrections and want to give credit to the person who did the basic groundwork. In some cases, I don't really want credit at all.

I like it as well. My one question/concern here is - if I choose to share credit and I get downvoted, does the downvote get shared as well?

In an article I was working on today, I had four in-my-opinion-correct simple sentences downvoted (with no further editing or comments). It didn't bother me (too much) since whoever did it was at a lower tier so the votes didn't even show up on my counter. However, on two or three of those sentences, I had edited the previous translation, left a comment about it, and chosen the "share credit" option. The previous translators were all low tiers, so now I'm worried that the downvotes got shared and affected them.

No, only upvotes are shared.

Good question. I don't see the purpose of the downvoting system.

I have noticed that when I edit a sentence, the Shared Credit box is automatically checked. However, if I edit more then a few words, it automatically UN-checks!

It does appear that I have to option of manually re-checking or manually unchecking the Shared Credit box if I want to. Nice feature, but wish there were more explanation about how it works!
