"Ποιος είναι ο ορισμός;"

Translation:What is the definition?

October 9, 2016

What, which is accepted, would seem closer to the Greek. "Which" indicates a choice of definition and there is here no indication of a possible choice, so is "which" acceptable as the main translation?

"What" should have been shown as the main translation. I've switched them. Thanks.

What do you mean?

ποιος is "which" - it's not the same as τι ("what").

Yes but there are exceptions. Taking examples from Duo exercises: ποια είναι αυτή η μάρκα; ποια είναι το συμπέρασμα; ποια είναι η επιχείρηση σου; ποιο είναι το νόημα;. All of these were translated by "what". There is sometimes a fine line and I was simply trying to clarify it for myself.
