Is the Prize for everyone who completes the challenge, or only the first person? Also, are they allowed to have any prior experience in Greek? (If the person has already learned Greek, this will be an easy 100 lingots, they will just have to take the placement test. If they pass it, it will fill in the whole tree and give them an owl. So, I recommend offering some clarification and parameters. :)
Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear. 100 lingots for each person who finishes. Also, as I stated, no one with experience in the language may join.
Would you like to try? The time period of the challenge is actually November 1 to December 1
Unfortunately, I don't have time on my plate for another language. And, I am rather slow at absorbing languages. Thanks for the invite though ^_^
Nice idea! I think you would have more participants if you gave them a little more time, maybe a month. It would take a few days for me to just get the alphabet.
I won't be participating as I like to keep progress at my own pace, but I donated 80 to help with the prize cost. Good luck to everyone that participates!
Thanks. Think about joining! And besides, at the end, you can reset your Greek to practice more slowly, or you can just quit!
No problem. I'll join then, If not to finish it then to simply learn about the language.
IMHO, A grand prize should be awarded to the first person to make their tree all Gold.
Also, I would lengthen the contest date to at least 5 weeks.
I have been keeping personal stats on my progress in Excel, averaging 4 new modules and 2-3 review modules daily in about 45 minutes. Over the course of 4 weeks and about 22 hours, I am a bit more than halfway through the tree, and about 1/3 of it is Gold.
So I think you are really ambitious with the one month thing and true progress can only be measured by tree upkeep.
Otherwise it is a test of wits and memory. I would not expect retention to be high. No offense. I suppose one could consider it as a means of beginning the tree but it would need intense follow up afterwards.
I'm in agreement. I think a month is too short a period. Please make it a bit longer for better progress and retention. As a contributor to the GR course, I will not participate but will gladly donate some lingots to for your effort. ,
