I think 'Please write your first and last name' should be ok here?

I think they're literally translating from Vietnamese where your surname is more "important" so it goes first. Additionally the contributors' English isn't the greatest at times.

So in vietnamese isnt your surname your first name. so which name do you want. seems like a redundant sentence

that is funny how we say "first and last name," and they say "last and first name," but it makes sense considering how Vietnamese write their last names first!! BUT, DUO, you should count it correct to not repeat the word "name." We don't say "first name and last name" (or last name and first name!), we say "first and last names." aren't we going for the idioms here, not literal translations??

Even inverted, "last and first name" wasn't accepted.

Agreed. The end result is, that if you understood the meaning whatever you put down is correct and should be accepted.

"family name and given name" was also accepted

Is it necessary to include và?

Why isnt it "please write last name and your first name.

Plenty of evidence hêre that the English ănswer is counter intuitive for native English speakers. Duo should change the options

It really sounds something like the speaker is saying "là mơn… " Is it common for some words or phrases to mash together?
