As a Pittsburgh-situated company Duolingo could choose to promote a written form of the Pittsburgehse variant of english-american languages, which has great influence from scots-irish tongues

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburghese

but more important, and more interesting, it would be if Duolingo choose - as first endangered language - to activly promote the moribund Shawnee language, which was once spoken in Pittsburgh before the europeans arrived, nowdays it's only 200 who speak the language, but projects of revitalization is going ahead. Why dont support this!

other languages that lived in the area was Seneca, which today have 100 speakers, also this language undergoe revitalization projects

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_language

and lenape, which in its Unami form died out as late as 2002, while Munsee still has seven speakers, with a revitalization interest.

The first endandgered - or small - language that will come through the incubator will recieve a massive support, with hundreds, probably thousands, of people who will study the language, and not just people of those etnicities, that will make headlines and good public relations, besides being somewhat of a global record in language revitalization (hebrew and cornish showing the way), and of course, benign for the language per se.

I do love the idea of getting some of the endangered languages on here... but there's just the issue of having to find volunteers willing to do the work through the Incubator. Maybe it'd make sense to publicize it and see if appropriate talent can be found?
