The Vietnamese actually looks more like "make friends with you," which would be a better translation, since "befriend" does not use "with."
A handful of Vietnamese verbs use "với" where the translation into English doesn't use "with".

Other languages (I know of biblical ones) have many different words for love.
Bạn với bạn sounds limited in word useage whereas the word 'you' can translate in many ways. How about 'bạn với anh'? Can that be done?
