Thanks to Duolingo, I was able to test out of one year of French.
So I'm currently a high school student, but I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the Duolingo team and the French team for helping me test out of a year of high school French courses. I've been studying French (among other languages, but it was my first) on here for just over two and a half years and while I'm not fluent, Duolingo has helped me greatly to spark my love for languages. Had I not found Duolingo, I probably would have been stuck in a really boring French 1 course, and though I'm no longer as active as I used to be on here, I am eternally grateful to the French contributors on here for helping me to understand the language and getting ahead of everyone in high school.
Hello. I actually have had a similar encounter. I learned Spanish here on Duo, and tested out of third year Spanish. I am taking AP Spanish this year....so in conclusion, Spanish here on Duo helped me bypass 3 years of high school level spanish!
Good for you! My school won't let anyone -- even native speakers -- bypass more than two years of a language, so I'm stuck right where I am, LOL. But I'm happy because French 2 is challenging enough for me and considering that I haven't really studied it in a while, it's helping me to relearn what I've forgotten. :)
Hey there! I am also a highschool student and I have now been taking French in school for 3 years, along with starting Spanish this year and self-teaching German. Do you want to be friends and I can help you with your French? Btw, I gave you a lingot :D.
C'est merveilleux! Félicitations et je te souaite de la bonne chance avec tes études en français, une langue très jolie.
Hi, I am a middle school student, and I just love what you said! I gave you a lingot because I just started and you are the first person on here that spoke French that I saw, and thought you are such a kind person! I know I am too young to be learning French, but I just really love this language! When I get older, I am going to travel to Paris, France! I want to see the city of love! Merci beaucoup! Au revoir!
You are never too young to be learning French, my friend. :) In fact, it's good that you're learning French right now because it's easier for younger people to learn languages than older people. What's even more, once you understand French, it's easier to pick up other similar languages like Spanish and Italian (which are in the same language family as French) if you decide to learn those sometime in the future.
And I'm so glad you like the language! French is indeed very lovely and beautiful. :) It was the first language I studied here on Duolingo and really the one I have been the most committed to.
Merci pour les compliments (and the lingot)! I wish you the best of luck in the French language!
