Duolingo on i-phone

I have a duolingo account on my desk-top but I can't access my account on my i-phone. I keep getting blocked by the "Create your profile screen" which tells me my e-mail address is already taken.

Don't create a new profile.
Log in to your existing account.

I have mine set to Spanish, but this should give you an idea of what to do; the top button says "Begin" and the bottom button (circled in red) says "I already have an account":

I have the same problem as AndrewDavi above and the answers below do not help me. I have a Duolingo account on my desktop computer and I have the Duolingo app on my iPhone. The app on my iPhone does not recognize my user name (my email address) nor the password I use on my desktop computer. Not knowing what else to do, I trashed the Duolingo app on my phone and started over by downloading a new Duolingo app and the mobile app. The app would still not recognize the email (it told me my email was already taken!!!) or my password so I then tried to create a new profile on the app and that didn't work either. It seems like the account I set up on my desktop and the log does not recognize that I am the same person when I try to access the mobile app on my phone. I want both so I can work on my desktop at home and also work on the mobile app when I am away from home. How can I get the two to talk to each other and recognize that I am one and the same person on both devices. If the "community" can help me great; if not, is there anyone working at Duolingo that can help or is there no technical support from anyone at Duolingo? I love the program but there doesn't seem to be anyone available with technical support. Why is that?

The form you're filling in at the moment is for creating a new account. That's not what you want to do.

Have a look at the picture Lrtward has posted. When you see that screen, instead of clicking "start", click "I already have an account", and then sign in with your username and password for the account you already have.

Once again I deleted the Duolingo mobile app from my iPhone and then downloaded the Duolingo app again in order to start over. When I opened the app it did not show the screen image shown in Lrtward's message above. It opened to the learning page which doesn't show all of what I've already accomplished on the desktop version. The mobile app prompted me to create a new profile, it did not offer me an opportunity to log into my already existing account. I noticed that the mobile app thinks of me as having an icloud.com email address. My desktop account is a comcast.net address but when I try using my comcast.net email address the mobile app tells me someone else already has that address so it's all very confusing to me and I don't seem to be able to be the same person on the mobile app as I am on my desktop and the two devices are not talking to each other. I'm still stuck and trying to get the Duolingo desktop and mobile Duilingo app on my iPhone to be one and the same. Frustrated!!!

When you remove and reinstall Duolingo, it doesn't remove your user data. Here's what you do:

  • Uninstall Duolingo

  • Open a file browser, find your Duolingo folder, and delete it. On Android it's called "com.duolingo" or something like that.

  • Re-install Duolingo, and look for the screen Lrtward has shown.
