Many Reasons To LOVE A Language
I fell in love with Duolingo the moment that we met four months ago at the Apple App Store in the Top Apps sections (#1 might I add) ;) ;)... we've had a beautiful relationship ever since then!!! I love every moment we spend together!!! ;)
I have been studying Spanish simply because I love including myself... which means I loathed not being able to understand people's conversations when I was at college for the last three years in Sydney, Australia with people from 66 other nations... I was around multi-lingual people every moment of every day!! And I have had no previous experience with other languages...
Now, after learning just over half of the "Spanish tree", I can read all of my amazing friend's posts in Spanish on my news feed WITHOUT going to Google Translate LOL!!!
I can read the setup instructions/manuals for anything that I purchase... In Spanish.
I can follow tweets from famous soccer players from South America... and favorite them!
I can understand full conversations in Spanish (I think it's full, but it's probably just the jist, LOL!) when I'm listening to the people sitting around me while having a coffee at Starbucks.
I can laugh at the ridiculous "inside jokes" that English speaking people use when they say small random Spanish phrases.
I can translate literature from Spanish into English. It feels amazing to use Immersion because I've only received "up-votes" on there!! Which means that the people rating me are being way too kind... JK!! :) I fully LOVE the atmosphere of this website!!
I can read stories in ANOTHER LANGUAGE which is an absolute joy for me!!
It has been so much fun for me. I love everything about it and if I had a million dollars I'd put it into Duo Stock if there were such a thing.
There are multitudes of possibilities for my future. And now I will be able to have conversations with MANY people. MORE than ever before. WHEREVER I happen to be on this planet. And I am stoked about that.
I'm pumped for NO LIMITATIONS with language!! :) The future is bright.
Keep up the great work... Much love for Duolingo. :)
Happy Valentines Day <3
I enjoyed reading your discussion post quite a lot. Te siento, mi amigo!
Before I found Duo, I would listen to songs in Spanish and listen out for any words I'm familiar as well as cognates. However, I couldn't understand a whole sentence! When I found Duo, I could understand el vocabulario en español (¡finalmente!). As well as sing the songs in Spanish!! I couldn't hold in my happiness I was that happy with Duo!! ¡¡Muchas gracias!!
