Can I use сандвіч insted of бутерброд when I talk with some ukrainian, too?

Yes, we say "сандвіч" in Ukrainian, but to something that looks more like a Subway-sandwich. If you say "сандвіч" to a single piece of bread with some butter and a slice of cheese on it, it would sound strange. Basically, "бутерброд" is a poor man's sandwich. ;)

When it's simple bread and butter, maybe with some ham or vegetables on it, канапка will be good as well. Sandwich is more about when there are two slices of bread with some filling in between.

It is a question: "... does ... cost."

shouldnt 'how much costs this sandwich?' also be accepted?

Why is "How much is this sandwich?" not acceptable, since this is a common way to ask in English? - Arne
