I can't log into Duolingo from Ipad app!!!

Its been 2 years but anyways. I tried this workaround. Everytime i opened the app it asked to either discard progress or create profile. so to login, i clicked on create profile...entered some random values like asdasd.com mypassword etc etc. You will be logged in...now just logout and now select I already have an account......Eureka ..Eureka
Exactly, this one actually works. For those who get the "Create account" only. Do this trick, it works like a charm.
I do not get the create an account option, it just goes straight into a beginners untouched profile with NO options to log in. Not fun having an ipad purchased to use this app easier and then not be able to use Duolingo on it.
I recovered my status on Duolingo only on my laptop. could someone please tell me how to open the ap on ipad?
So the one answer was close. You have to close the app on any open device and then on the apple device open the app, go to settings and "sign out". Then you can reopen and say you already have an account
I did the sign out and sign in again as existing user. I was able to connect but lost my 200+ day streak and my lingots. It's like DuoLingo has me as two different people. Can't get my records synced.
The above answer works. I had set up two accounts with different passwords, one on my iPhone and another on my computer. I normally use the iPhone for DuoLingo and had forgotten about the other (except that was the password I was remembering). When I put in the right PW I got to the iPhone one with my streak, lingots etc.

There is no close button, not even an account button. Just Learn, Clubs and Shop
I just downloaded the iPad app but I am an existing user. There is no option to "login" on the iPad app. It makes you create a new account. No solution yet??!
Ok, here's my story , I had my login to duolingo app through my facebook account , when I formated my mobile and installed the app again I was shocked that i'm no longer able to login my account , it was all ok via web .
So what I did is that I requested a new password (only works when using website) then went to my apps setttings , cleared all data of duolingo , uninstalled it , reinstalled, cleared data again , then waited a while (it was 5 hours from changing password) then used my facebook email + the new password to login via my mobile .. It worked !
It was a long process but I gained back my level 12 account . Hope this helps someone..
It helped me. Thanks a lot! It seems you need to do this if you created the accound using Facebook. The app will not recognize your Facebook info to login, until you request the password change (I changed to the same password, so the only the process is necessary).
I don't want to create a profile but I still want to continue with my language programs. Doulingo won't allow me to do so without creating a profile first. So I did try to create a profile and it won't take my info! It keeps telling me that My email is already an existing email....uh duh! I know that! Why can't I use my Existing email to create a duolingo profile??? Don't have the patience to create another NEW Email for this app!
Ok I got the same problem. Go to social. Then choose settings. Then choose sign out. Then you can login and suddenly Duolingo can connect. Bug!
That sounds so simple. I got logged out because I tried to set up 2 factor identification on my mac and decided it was way too much trouble. So when I went back to Duo, it opened as if I was a new user. THERE IS NO OPTION for I have an account. It just lets me say I am a beginner or not a beginner. Any specifics on where to go on that screen? Gracias en adelante
I have the same issue, but on Android. When opening the app I got stuck on the page where you choose how frequently you intend on using the app. When trying to choose any alternative, I get a message saying it can't connect. So I tried fully closing the app and then start it up again, this gave me the same page. After this I tried to reinstall the app.
This at least took me to a new page (the sign in or create new account page) when again starting the app. If I try signing in with my existing account, it just resets my information after pressing sign in. I therefore went on to try reseting my password, which worked perfectly. I am 100% sure I'm using the right details since I'm able to sign in here, on the website (even on my phone).
I have no idea why this is happening and I would be very grateful for any help!

I give up. I have been able to recover the status on my laptop but have spent way to much time trying to recover it on my ipad. What is the problem? Could someone tell me how to get the ap to open on ipad?
I can't log in with my user name and password in Duolingo for iphone either. The first time I used the iphone for duolingo was a long time ago with other id. Now I trying to change it to the new one so I can keep my progress and I can't!
I tried all of the suggestions but nothing worked for me. I finally logged out and started all over again. I took the placement test, created a new profile and pretty much ended up right back where I was. This was a very frustrating experience. I would like to know what triggered the lock out in the first place.
I want to continue with my duolingo French courses but after basics, it says I must create a profile. When trying to do so by typing in my info i.e. My email... It says that my email is already Taken, huh? Do I need to set up another email in order to use duolingo?
I just downloaded the app after trying duolingo earlier and creating a profile. Now I am told that my email address is already in use so I cannot create a profile.
Go to my apps setttings , clear all data of duolingo , uninstall it , reinstall, clear data again , choose "I have an account".
I finally found the way to log in on an ipad/iphone. It is hidden well. I went to the "clubs" option on the bottom of the screen. There it will ask you to create a new profile. If you look in the upper left at that point, you will see a disabled looking bit of text that says "Profile". If you click on that, it will take you to a screen where you can choose the "I have an account".

I just upgraded to new iPhone and I too could not sign in with the app without signing in as a new person. I am so happy you shared with all of us.
I can't login in. I have iPad with iOS and there isn't the Buffon 'i have already an account' . How can I solve ?
At the bottom choose the "clubs" icon, then when it changes to the club screen a "profile" button appears in the top left corner.
I can't log in and I have not changed devices. I keep having to practice the same modules and the program won't let me move forward.
I'm a teacher. I'm using Duolingo for schools. I created two classrooms and sent students invitations. They have all signed up. I want them to practice in class where I only have iPads shared with the whole division. I downloaded the App in each device BUT MY STUDENTS CANT SIGN INTO THEIR ACCOUNTS!!! I can't use Duolingo as a teacher if my students can't use the iPads. HELP!

I have already been using the Duolingo app on my iPad for Spanish for about 6 months. As of today, when I click on the app icon, it will not activate. I can still use it from my iPhone, just not my iPad. I prefer to use the iPad because it is easier to see.
Well, I made a new account, but somehow I can still log in from safari. And yes, I checked my username and password
Ironically, I was going to comment, but it wouldn't let me log in... I think I've figured out the problem. Whenever I change my user name from the original username Duolinguo gave me in "Settings" on the Duolinguo app, it won't let me login. I have had this happen on two accounts. Thank God, on my original account I haven't logged out, but I know trying to log in on the forums was impossible, but as long as I'm still logged in on my phone I'm okay.

Leandro you are correct. It does work. I have been getting a notice that my email has been taken when in fact it was MINE. OK on PC not on iphone.Your corrective action got me back. thank YOU!
Leandro. I did in fact get back on the phone however I did not get back to my latest level. I am now at level 4 with 269 days. the days are correct but it seems as though I have to go through all the lessions again to rebuild the history...if I learned anything it should go faster the second time around.
