Just a quick question. I am currently doing Greek lessons elsewhere and my teacher advised that after the 'to be' verb that we would then use nominative case. I thought it would have been 'κιτρινος' in this case. Can someone explain to me why it is not?

That's right, but the word κρεβάτι is nominative neuter gender, thus the adjective is κίτρινο (κίτρινος - masculine, κίτρινη - feminine, κίτρινο - neuter)!
