Discussion threads lag to the point I can't navigate them in chrome or firefox, any ideas?
Hi all, Since I signed up 4 days ago, if I try to browse any discussions with a few hundred replies chrome and firefox seize up. In firefox it's just painfully slow to respond to scrolling, but chrome both lags and goes into a sort or repeat loop of the last scroll input you gave it - I have to try and navigate with the up and down arrows.
Weirdly internet explorer is fine... any ideas other than just give up with them and use sigh IE? (Win 10)
Discussions with several hundreds of replies are apparently too large to be handled. I am not sure that they are important enough to start using IE.
It's only because I'm new, so the stickies are quite helpful lol! Eh, maybe I'll just open IE when I need them? I was trying one of those script blocking plugins but got nowhere lol
I can read the posts, it is just the comments that are not loading properly.
Kudos to you for reading those sticky posts. Lots of new users don't and then ask questions that have already been answered hundreds of times. ;)
Had the same problem about 1 week ago. Duolingo became really slow and I couldn't have many tabs opened at the same time. The problem were scripts, which were constantly loaded, every 1 or 2 seconds. These were coming from amazonaws, I think.
I'm using Firefox and have a script blocking addon named "uMatrix" installed. I had to try out blocking (or better allowing!) several scripts, but now I'm comfortable again and can use Duolingo as always.
uMatrix is a great tool, but you need some time to get familiar with it. Try to look up tutorials on youtube :-)
