@jenna_mountford it is a lot of fun because it has a very different flavor than English. And also, I have interests (like anime and manga) that I can explore using Japanese. The two major challenges I see are that there are many levels of politeness for a culture that I am not very familiar with and it is potentially one of the most time consuming languages for an English native speaker to learn. It is suggested that someone would need to study it for 2,200 hours to become fluent (according to the foreign service institute : http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wikibooks:Language_Learning_Difficulty_for_English_Speakers Personally, I think learning French would be more difficult for me because of the pronunciation, and I think Russian would be more difficult for me because of the grammar.
