Can you practice specific skills?

I've really been enjoying learning languages with Duolingo, but had a question -

I was wondering if you can set a lesson so that it helps you with particular skills you need practice in? I notice you can turn off the microphone and not be asked speaking questions, but can you set it to only ask you listening questions, for example?

If not, this would be a really useful addition to make!

This isn't currently available. It has been suggested before with little comment from DL, which makes me think it isn't a feature they want to implement (this could be for many reason including difficulty of site maintenance to it not being beneficial to learning).

That's a shame, I would find it useful to be able to practice specific areas of my language learning, particularly writing as I find this most challenging. But this is maybe more difficult to implement than it might seem, as you say!

Well the good news for writing skills is you can turn off your speakers in Settings and you will only get writing exercises.

Thanks for that tip, I only knew it was possible to turn off the microphone. Maybe someday we will be able to be more specific, I hope!

You can practice specific skills once you have reached the max skill level on them. It would be great to add an option to practice a specific at the existing skill level, since it would help build skills in shaky areas (and re-build health) to face tougher questions instead of forcing users into generic practice (which seems to emphasize basic skills most since their oldest) or practicing the completed skills (where people, by definition, have the most experience).
