Yeah, I know, dude, it's okay... The day I discovered I wasn't a physician either was the scariest day of my life.
"I am afraid that..." is something of an English euphemism to express regret or remorse. It's not meant literally. Is אני מפחד... used the same way in Hebrew, as a polite expression when one is, for example, about to deliver bad news ("I am afraid we have to let you go." Or, "I am afraid your dog has cancer.")?
I hope somebody answers this question I was wondering the same thing.
