Finished my tree!!!

Well... tonight I finished my Spanish tree! This was a very long and difficult process for me, coming from the middle of nowhere in England, where everyone is several generations British and nobody I know speaks a second language. I had struggled with a little French at school but soon gave up on it (I never really wanted to learn French anyway, it was Spain and Spanish culture I loved)! It took me weeks to get to grips with basic concepts such as gender, and months to get to grips with the basic present tense conjugations! But now I am finally here...

But my journey is already continuing. I'm no longer an 18 year old living in the middle of nowhere, I'm now a PhD student living in vibrant London - and taking Spanish classes every Thursday. I've made Spanish friends to practice with, and regularly (attempt to) read El País and La Vanguardia. I spent a month in Spain this summer which really helped me feel confident going to order food in Spanish (even if I ran into trouble at times). I'm very excited for a future of continuing to learn Spanish!!

My fullest Congratulations! That's great that you spent a month in a Spanish-speaking country, I'd like to do that someday. If you're not already doing it, the reverse tree is helpful. However, continuing on as you're doing, I'm positive you'll be fluent in Spanish. :)

Congratulations! Good luck on your further mastery of the language. I'm still trying to get through my German tree, because I gave up on it twice before. I enjoy reading inspirational posts on other people's accomplishments with the help of Duolingo :)

Congratulations on finishing your tree! I just started mine....You went to Spain before? What is it like? I'm actually going to Spain in a few months, so I'm trying to get ready for my trip. I love traveling and I have to admit, I've never been to England. I always thought it would be cool to go around that area f the world.

Certainly not fluently. My skill is quite limited, currently. But hopefully the real-life lessons i'm taking will help.
