Talking Duolingo In Minecraft
So I was playing Minecraft with some friends of mine, and we had our mics on so we can talk to each other(it's really a waste of time to type, plus you might get blown up by a creeper). While I was building my house,I heard the sound that you get when you complete a skill.Everyone just stopped for a moment and started laughing out loud. Before you know it,we ended up building a house that looked the Duolingo owl, with a Spanish,French,Italian,German,English, and Portuguese room on the inside.Talk about multilingual! Feb.19,2014...BREAKING NEWS!The Duolingo House has been destroyed! The culprit,my 11-year old cousin who just LOVES to torture me,hacked onto my account, hacked into the server that my friends and I share(there is a password on it),and set the house on fire!We had to use wool to make it since there is no paint in Minecraft and that's the only thing that's colored. So now all that was left of it was some furnances.R.I.P Duolingo House.
Apr.20,2014: So my friends and I decided to try out this new mod that some Team Crafted members where playing called "Crazy Craft". At first we had NO IDEA what was going on because first of all, WE WERE ALL VILLAGERS. Second, whenever we killed a mob(lets say a mantis, which is in the mod)we would instantly morph into that mob and use its specially abilities like flying and all that. So night comes, one of my friends is a baby pig looking for us(plus, did I mention that we'd see everything in that mob's view?)and he hears this weird sorta hoot/rattle sound. At first he thought it was a creeper(like everyone else would) and was looking all over the place for it. Then he heard it again and this time he looked up. DID YOU KNOW WHAT HE FOUND?! HE FOUND A FREAKIN' OWL! Well, since he couldn't find his way back to the fort, he had to kill it. So he came back to the fort flying and he was saying "I'M THE DUOLINGO OWL!" and we were just shocked and amused. Apparently, we couldn't find any more since an owl spawning is very rare and it only spawns at night(since it would just die immediately in the day time). So...yeah. THE OWL STRIKES AGAIN!
May 23,2014: I know it has been OVER A MONTH since I wrote on this sorta "digital journal" of mine...but I have some more awesome news!So I was on Google searching for "Minecraft Mods" and I went on this site(I forgot the sites name and my history list is all screwed up for some reason). I found this mod that looked similar to what my favorite Youtuber plays on,but whoever created it add new animals like pandas, ducks(which looks like a chicken, but green and brown and without that red thing on its beak)etc. So I download the mod, send the url of the site, created a new server, and played on it with my friends.Unlike CrazyCraft,we can't morph(OBVIOUSLY) but we got some new items from the new mobs added. Here are the ones I remembered(there were like a million mobs on that mod,so I couldn't remember them all):
Panda:Drops bamboo(bamboo can be used to make weapons,in which is slightly strong than wood)
Duck:Drops brown or green feathers(same use as the normal white feathers from the Chicken)
Owl:Drops brown or grey feathers(same use as the normal white feathers from the Chicken)
Snake:Drops scales(don't know what that's for,but if you have a glass bottle and tame the snake, using a mouse, bird,or rat,you can collect its venom and use it to make potions)
And that's basically all...FOR NOW.
multilingual - do you have a screenshot of the owl house? That would be a nice one to share!
Duolingo is really picking up speed!! :D Next time, if you have a camera phone post it up! xD
...my parents never gave me a phone...and I have a camera, but the screen always shows up white when I take the picture.Even without the flash.
You don't have to take a screenshot from inside the minecraft client, you could just press the 'prntscrn' button on your keyboard, paste it in paint or something and upload it :)
I started learning German because of a friend I made on Minecraft on an international server. Ended up visiting him and a mutual Dutch friend within a year. I fell in love with what little of Europe I saw (and him) and have vowed to make it over there someday. So.. Learning German one lingot at a time. :D
