Day Streak Timer

Perhaps it'd be cool if there was a timer telling you how much time you got left until you lose your streak. Maybe showing when you mouse over the flame symbol.

What do you think?

I think it might be more convenient (if this features was added) if it would be shown on your leaderboard: people look there more often.

I check it every time I log on. I don't follow very many people, but I need to be ahead of those that I do!

How about you realize that it is a 24 hour streak, and the staff focuses on more important website updates? ^__^

Of course they should focus on more important stuff. This doesn't mean it wouldn't be a nice little feature though.

Except that it's not a 24 hour streak if you are travelling.

In that case it depends on whether the gadget you are using (and/or the one you used the day before in the other time zone) resets its clock or not. Which is all quite annoying.

Hi annika_a,

Your account time zone does not change, even if you move. If it changes, that is a glitch and can be reported to the Troubleshooting forum or you can file a report through the white Support tab on the left.

You can find more information about Streak and Streak Freeze here: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/1426103 :)

@Usagiboy7: With all due respect, yes it does change. And reporting it did not make a difference, even though staff saw my screen shot and even commented on it and wondered about it. Coins (as they were then, in late December 2013) earned after midnight when I was i my "home time zone" GMT+2 showed up in the systems of Duolingo staff as having been earned before midnight once I had arrived at a place using GMT+1.

So while I know the official line is that time zones do not affect the streaks, and that staff will reinstate streaks lost wrongly, this is simply not true (or at least it wasn't a couple of months ago). I think it is fair enough to mention this.

And yes, I have streak freeze in place now, but that is beside the point of this time zone question.
