Seems to be that the voice doesn't pronounce 'y'. At least I can't hear it at all.

This sentence is literally:- 'How was the weather yesterday?' which is often transcribed to 'What was the weather like yesterday?'

There's no single word in that sentence that translates to "like", but the sut translates to "what ... like" here.
