In the "Arts" skill https://www.duolingo.com/skill/el/Arts , while learning it, there was a picture exercise asking me to choose which of three pictures represented "the painting".
The right answer was η ζωγραφική.
But I think that this is confusing. As I understand it, η ζωγραφική refers to a genre of art, not to a particular image, so it is best translated without the article in English, as "painting" (like "art", "music", "poetry", etc.).
With an article, "the painting", I would always expect it to refer to a painted picture. (What's that in Greek? η ζωγραφία?)
So the image exercise should be removed, I think -- it's pretty hard to convey an abstract concept through an image, anyway.
