Japanese Lesson: Katakana カタカナ

This is the second syllabary in Japanese. Nothing changes in terms of how to pronounce them (if you've look at my hiragana 'lesson'), but the shapes are different. Katakana is normally used for the names of foreign people or places.

Vowels

アーA イーI ウーU エーE オーO

K

Like any other alphabet, learning hiragana and katakana takes practice and memorization. Do not expect to know them all and be able to write and read them perfectly in just a few days (though you will probably be close if you spend a week studying them)

I love your lessons Oribaakki -- the explanations make sense, and give a great foundation for people trying to learn another language -- let alone another writing system.

One small thing I noticed, however, is that the symbols "ハ" and "ヒ" were accidentally listed incorrectly. "ハ” is actually "ha" and "ヒ" is actually "hi"

Just thought you should know about it. This is, in my opinion, the best katakana chart on Duolingo.
