Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Is there a way for me to post on the discussion board for native Spanish speakers?

I'd like to invite some native Spanish speakers who are learning English to chat online. I feel like it would be a great way to get extra practice -- we could correct each other's vocab and grammar while just having fun chatting.

Thanks in advance

Yes: in your account settings you can choose an option like 'I'm Spanish and I want to learn English' which will put you on the English for Spanish speakers course. You'll then be able to see all the Spanish language forums instead of these ones. When you're done, just go back to the settings page and choose 'I'm English and I want to learn <language>'.

Thanks! If I do that and switch back right after making a post, will I still get notifications if it gets responses, and will I still be able to click and be directed straight to the thread as usual, or should I just leave it as "I'm Spanish..." for a while until I have responses?

I think the only difference is that you get all notifications in Spanish. I regularly get emails from Duolinguo concerning immersion (translations from Spanish to English), and they are in different languages depending on my current language course setting.

I changed my account settings and then bookmarked the forum. You can click your bookmark when you are on english settings to read anything and comment on anything in the spanish forums. The only thing you can't do in when you have the english settings is post new threads yourself. You have to login to the spanish settings to do that.

You can also just put in the link for the discussion:

English discussion (where Spanish speakers discuss English): https://www.duolingo.com/topic/217
