Let's see the difference for the people who don't know. "A little" and "a few" have a "positive meaning", with "little" and "few" having a negative meaning. For example:
"I have a little money" means that you don't have much money, but you have enough for what you want. "I have little money" means that you don't have enough money.
Same goes for "(a) few". If you say "I have a few friends" means that, even though you don't have a lot of friends, you have enough, while "I have few friends" only means that you don't have many friends.
