Plimalhelverdo por la Esperanta flago? [kun bildoj!]
[I hope it's okay etiquette to post this here as well. I also posted it in the general forum to get to a larger user base, so to include people who like flags but aren't studying Esperanto. It seems lately anything that has "Esperanto" in the title gets systematically down-voted so hopefully I can get your thoughtful and sincere opinions here in the Esperanto forum!]
I've noticed for a while now that Duolingo isn't great at representing the correct color hues for the different flags. For instance, Duolingo only uses one shade of blue, a really really light shade of blue. As a result, the Dutch flag is actually the Luxembourgish flag (albeit with the wrong shade of red). Similarly, the shade of green Duolingo uses is light and slightly radioactive, almost like a lime green. However, ever since Hungarian entered the incubator, we finally have a new shade of green! A dark green!
I wonder... would that new color hue better represent the actual Esperanto flag? I know, neither are correct, the actual green is somewhere in between.
The Esperanto trophy flag probably also needs a redesign. For one, the Esperanto flag isn't a triband flag, as the trophy would suggest. And also, the current Esperanto trophy doesn't have the nice curves between the green and white as the other triband trophy flags do. Look at that, the line goes straight down, no curve!
Anyways, I've always really liked the trophy design from the Duolingo Esperanto Course on Memrise.
Or we could so something like this? I just whipped up the design and based if off the American trophy flag. I did something similar for the Yiddish flag a while back. Tell me what you guys think!
Thanks! I just opened the owl-sprite svg file (you can it find on this webpage if you look at the source files) in the open-source app "Inkscape" and played around with the colors and shapes of the American flag trophy.
