I finished! Yay! I completed my Spanish tree :D
Only took......2 years!
I have to say I was expecting more at the end. Nothing, nada!
Not even a well done?
Are you saying, when you completed the tree you expected more? When I finished the tree I received a "congratulations" message and a "trumpet fanfare" audio. You did not receive those? Try clicking on the golden owl at the bottom of your tree and see if you get the message. It should replay the message for you when you click on the owl.
This is the message I get....
" You've conquered the Spanish skill tree!
First of all, you're awesome! You've completed the Spanish skill tree! Second of all, we'd like to take this time to thank you sincerely for your lengthy participation on Duolingo. So in honor of you, here is a very special trophy in which to show our gratitude.
But don't stop now, maintain your knowledge and keep your word strength full by continuing to practice. Sincerely, "
Nope nothing on my mobile - trophy appeared but can't click on it - nothing :(
Maybe the Congratulations message only works on the web version. I was on a laptop when I got that.
¿Porqué me regresas el lingot? ¡Te lo mereces por haber terminado tu árbol! Te lo voy a dar otra vez, y por favor no me lo regreses. Saludos.
Congrats! How do you feel about the results? Did you do anything along with Duolingo?
Fluency percentage seems low for a finished tree only 56%.
I do find duolingo useful for revision and daily practice but I've never had much luck learning from it, I've always used other sources for learning.
I've used; Language Transfer,Glossika, Assimil Spanish course, Lots of YouTube videos and Lots of websites for grammer etc.
Seems to me that I'm still not at a very high level of Spanish and I can't speak it at all. I can read Spanish OK but I suppose thats what Duolingo is aiming for - to make you good a translating so from that point of view I suppose it's done it's job quite well :)
In other posts I had seen that a fluency of approx 60 % to 70 % is as far as you can get with DL.
I would not put much useful information into a DL fluency percentage. I only use it as a measure for progress in learning Spanish with DL.
The next logical steps would be:
- Use HiNative, Speaky or one of the other apps to come into contact with a native speaker of Spanish, and then begin to chat (write and speak).
- Use an app to increase my vocabulary (I am already doing this now). Take a look at these flash card apps: Anki, Memrise, Mosalingua Spanish.
I am listening to Spanish radio: Los 40 Principales, Madrid. A few days ago I understood a complete sentence in a song: Las Cartas que he escriti yo por tí: 'The letters I had written to (or for) you.*
The song is Quiero que sepas made by Juan Magan
I am also reading tweets from anything Los 40. Try to understand a tweet. If I don't understand it, hit the translate button to get raw - maybe incorrect - translation, and understand from it. Repeat with the next tweet in Spanish.
You can use my Los 40 Twitter list: https://twitter.com/LarsTHansen/lists/los-40
Congratulations! Just keep reviewing and practicing. Soon you will be speaking Spanish like a native ;)
If you decide to use Memrise and want to be friends there, my Memrise name is DeanG6
Congratulations! I find time and again that WOW! I remember that from Duo when talking Spanish so some things stuck! It is not a waste of time but it is of course not sufficient.
What languages are you learning? You have a long streak - 493 days is impressive!
WOW! That's an extremely impressive streak! I am an English native speaker, the language is really fun to learn!
That is great! Are you doing any other language? I am doing either German or French next!
No other languages in the pipeline since I still have a long way to go with my Spanish, not sure if I should bother with the reverse tree or move on to something else?
