Is the "meg" here related to "and" or to "feljössz"?

"Meg" is the word that connects the two clauses of the sentence. So its role is the role of "and".

--------- i just ignored the meg. duo didn't have a problem with: i go down into the cellar, you come up into the living room . . .

"Én lemegyek a pincébe, te meg feljössz a nappaliba." = "Én lemegyek a pincébe, te pedig feljössz a nappaliba."

In 95% of the Duolingo sentences, you can use either meg or pedig and it does not make much difference.
