More specifically, 'brânză' is usually a word used to refer to sheep's cheese and goat's cheese (Romanian and Moldovan brânză is usually white in colour and is similar to feta in texture and taste, but not always as salty). To talk about yellow-coloured cow's milk cheese, which is the kind of cheese produced more often in the West of Europe or in North America, (cheddar, gouda, emmental...) the word 'cașcaval' is often used.
