How to buy a Streak Repair?
I am a committed member of Duolingo, and have been learning French through the app for 270+ days - tonight, however, when I logged in, my streak was reset to zero.
I have, of course, missed days during the last year, but ALWAYS buy the streak freeze as soon as I do, and I check it every day to make sure I've got one in place in case i miss a day unexpectedly. So, it appears that there must be some kind of issue, as I am positive I had a streak freeze in place today - and I completed the lesson anyway!
To me, the streak is a big motivator. I would have (and would still) pay the $10 to reinstate my streak, if you do not agree that there has been some kind of glitch, but I was not even given that option, or notified that I had lost a streak. I have the iOs app.
I've really been enjoying your app, but am unsure of the likelihood of continuing to use it so regularly, as I am so disappointed to lose a streak I'd been working so hard at (unfortunately, suffering from OCD makes the streak loss a lot more of a problem in my mind than it is in reality, which I understand, but it's still frustrating).
If anyone knows how to pay to reinstate the streak, I'd do it, even though I think there was a glitch, because it's literally keeping me awake at night :(
I was on 19 days streak and when I lost my track I'm so disapointed to continue too. Even me with such a short period of time! When I go to purchase page, the first sentence says repair it and get back on track but the button is shortened and doesnt work. Its awful! Nothing to say...
I know how you feel I've lost 40 plus day streak myself - it is not fun and it is discouraging! You must "buy" (with earned lingots) AHEAD OF TIME, not afterwards (its like trying to buy insurance after your house burns down - you have to buy insurance ahead of time first). So go to the Duolingo "Store" and "buy" the Monthly Streak Repair and the Streak Freeze - protections for the next time. Oh, yeah, keep checking on them everyday if you can. It repairs your streak without telling you and then you are no longer covered for the next time! Remember our main goal is to learn a language - but, it IS fun to have a streak going. Let me know if you have any other questions. Oh yes, by the way, if you are a Duolingo Plus member - you also get 2 automatic Streak Freezes per month - this is good if you forgot to "buy" streak protection or, you did buy streak protection from the Duolingo Store, but, it got used up and you were no longer protected - I've used all three methods of streak protection to keep my streak going. You still might be able to pay (with real money) to restore your streak. On the cell phone version of Duolingo. It poped up to pay to repair the streak for a few times before it was gone forever. I wished I had taken advantage of it while it kept reminding me..... Hopefully, you will get the pop up again..... before it is gone forever.
Thanks for your help and complete response. But i cant pay money in dollar because our money is different and dont have any international credit card, thakns anyway.
You only get the option to purchase a streak repair on the iOS app at the moment. If duo considers it would be a useful income stream with affecting the learning experience then it will probably be made available to everyone.
Until then, you could report it on a bug report although it is unlikely to be actioned based on the experience others have reported one these forums.
That's a great explanation of the importance (to most of us) of that streak feature. Hang in there and keep learning your language. When you are able to communicate with a native- that will be your new motivator!
