Would "alună" not be a suitable synonym for "peanut" here, too?
"alună" is a walnut, therefore no...
...A walnut? I always thought walnut is "nucă", and hazelnut, at best, "alună de pădure". But I suppose calling peanuts "alune" might be more of a colloquialism.
Oops, yes aluna would be hazelnut.. peanuts are not hazelnuts... I men't to say hazelnuts. Sorry for the confusion :-)
