A vrea and a dori , are they the same? Does both of them mean "want" ?

From my understanding dori is more to desire, not want..

My Romanian friend said dori is more like something out of reach that you hope for, like a dream vacation or a million dollars. Vrea is more like, I want a turkey sandwich for lunch. That helped me understand the difference more clearly, so hopefully it will help someone else too.

I honestly don't know the difference between dori and vrea. Anyone?
