Swedish movie list

Hej!

I just wanted to share with you guys my list of Swedish movies which have dialogues in Swedish.

I find there are quite a few but it's not too easy to find their titles on the internet as they are often mixed with movies by Swedish directors/producers but are actually in English. So I wanted to create a comprehensive list myself. You are welcome to add any other titles!

If you have watched any, let me know your favourite (personally I really loves Kops I find it hilarious!)

Here is the link to the list

Hej då!

Edit: The list keeps growing :) thanks everyone

I love Kops too, the humour is brilliant.

Some of my favourites

Ondskan, Tillsammans, Så som i himmelen, Snabba Cash,

Anything with Michael Nyqvist he is such a great actor, so obviously I should include the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy.

Show Me Love is really lovely (it's by Lukas Moodyson, same guy who did We Are The Best and Together). I much prefer it's original title in Sweden though, couldn't possibly say why...

Utvandrarserien should be on the list. These movies are classics.

I saw these recently. Was great. The two guys from ABBA made a musical on that story. Kristina från Duvemåla. Some good songs.

You must see the classic films of the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergman...so many of them are just incredible...films like Fanny and Alexander, The Smiles of a Summer Night and The Wild Strawberries are three of my personal favorites.

I can honestly say that the single biggest motivation for me to push ahead with learning Swedish has been my love for these profound moving films.

Åh tack! I was looking for swedish movies for a long time!

I've watched the "Sune" movies that aren't in the list, it's pretty easy to understand as the story is really simple :)

Yeah this feeling is amazing, but when I see how many tv shows I needed to understand english without subtitles, I don't think there are enough swedish movies or shows I want to see haha

There is an excellent Swedish TV Series called Ångelby which has English subtitles. There are 10 episodes 1 hour each one 1 hour long.

Great! I wonder do you happen to have a link where I can watch it?

Are you just looking for movie or for series as well? There a lot of swedish crime series (Wallander, Beck, Annika Bengtzon to just mention a few). A very funny series is "Welcome to Sweden" - the language is a mixture of Swedish and English and it is basically about a guy from America which moved to Stockholm to his Swedish girlfriend.

Edit: "En man som heter Ove" is a movie I unfortunately have not seen yet.

Thank you for your suggestions, I would love to create a list of series as well. I will have to check out the ones you mentioned. Do you watch them online for free? Are they easy to find?

The crime series we basically watch in Swedish television and "Welcome to Sweden" have we discovered when we had a trial netflix account. But at least the last one, you can find on youtube but unfortunately not in a good quality.

Oh brill I keep getting emails about the netflix trial month, I think I have an excuse to give it a go now!

I cannot guarantee that you can watch "Welcome to Sweden" (if you are not in Sweden - which I do not know) since the program of netflix depends on the country, you are located in.

Oh no! I am not in Sweden (yet!). I hate how hard it is to find this stuff on the internet including the movies. I think I spent a good half hour the other evening looking for a few titles and then ended up defeated watching an English movie :(

Wow, I love this list. Which movie would be the simplest for a beginner?

Good to hear! Someone just suggested two childrens movies and gave links so I think that would be the simplest place to start? In songs from the second floor they talk quite clearly too and kind of always repeat the same things (sounds weird but I it's an amazing movie, give it a try)

Do you people speak a bit a french?

The very famous french singer Boris Vian made a very famous french song called "Je suis snob" (I'm snob) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFdYZQmQtcs . I like that line: "J'vais au cinéma, voir des films suédois" (I go to the cinema to see swedish movies). I wonder what movies he exactly had in mind in 1955 or if it was only for the rime... (yeah, "cinéma" and "suédois" rime in french)
