Yes, you can also drop "trở" and keep "lại". There are 2 ways to say "America (the country)/the US": Mỹ and Hoa Kỳ; Hoa Kỳ is more formal. Great is "vĩ đại" and "(trở) lại" is "again".

Why 'đều' here? Can it not be dropped?

Previously, we ran into this in "Mỗi ngày, họ đều đi chùa" which was explained by a commentator as 'repeated, everyday' action but even there it seemed unnecessary.
