I don't think one would normally say that in English, one would say one hectometre is equivalent to (or simply is) one hundred metres rather than has.

Agreed. The word hectometre exists but is very rarely used

I've never heard this word used in real life. People just say 100m, 200m, etc.

I don't think I ever heard of a hectometre - only those who can't count to 100 would need it and they wouldn't know or understand it (any more than i did until DL showed me it! I would go as far as to say that only metre and kilometre are in use in UK English on the scale upwards from a metre. More terms are used on the small side.
