Dor = longing I therefore translated the sentence as: I long for Romania. I see nothing wrong with that and it expresses the feeling more strongly

"I miss Romania" is more idiomatic in English, though.

Perhaps helpful is to understand it as: "For me is longing of Romania" and then to translate, "I miss Romania."
