new speaking exercises not working on chrome

the new speaking exercises didn't work for me on chrome, it looked identical as before, it didn't give any feedback?!
I'm using late 2013 macbook pro and fresh install of chrome

They have been "upgraded" now, but they are worse than before. The microphone quits working before you are done speaking, and it doesn't pick you up half the time. I wish they would go back to how it was, but for now, I'm going to just turn my microphone off completely.
