Why does it happen so often that we finish exercises and the points just vanish/get skipped? This is happening way too often.
I don't really have anything to contribute here but I just wanted to say that the title of this post is so inexplicably awesome and completely relevant to whatever it is you are talking about that I was fascinated and intrigued just looking at it. Ok bye now!
That's exactly what I was going to say! But also, I'd like to add to make sure that you're connected to WiFi (Sorry I don't have any other suggestions).
Er... Thanks:) Have a lingot... Have two (not that we can do much with them thanks to the horribly limited shop^^)
Could you clarify what you mean by points? If you're talking about XP points, those get added to your daily and complete total, but you don't really see them except at the end of exercises.
Yes, those. It is at the end of exercises and on the daily count that they don't register.
There's a known glitch with timed practices where you'll end up with the completely wrong number of points, and that's just something you have to work around; other than that, it could be a temporary bug.
I don't know how to help with that, sorry, but if you move the discussion to Troubleshooting instead of Duolingo, someone may.
I've never done a timed practice. This is happening in the regular revision exercises.
Are you using the iPhone app? I regularly read reports of iPhone users losing streaks because the app version on the iPhone has an offline mode, but I've never experienced any point-loss on the website.
No. I use android, but this has been happening on android AND pc. It's not the day-streak that gets miffed, it's the exercise points (usually 10 per exercise) that goes missing.
How do improve your level? My level is by far better than 3 month ago, yet it does not show my level and the % dropped to 40% fro, 46%. What am I doing wrong? and where do I see my "level"?
To get a higher level (like 21, 22, 23, etc) you need many more points to get to the higher levels. To get your fluency percentage higher, you just need to keep doing tons of exercise practice. If you have completed the language tree, just keep doing the refreshing exercises on all the topics even if they are gold.
A new version of Houdini points happened today... I had 20 points DEDUCTED from my day's points after an exercise as I was making my way to the main page. Wt* Duo?
I don't know, but it happened to me too. Rarely, but today it did for example. Apparently once in a while duolingo forgets the points you did, and even skills.
