Any good show, book, or movie suggestions?

Hi! I was wondering if anybody knew any good books, shows, or movies that would be helpful for a beginner? I recently started learning Danish with a friend and was looking for some good suggestions.

Thanks

dr.dk/ligetil is always good if you want to try reading Danish at a beginner's level. If you like Harry Potter, the Danish e-books are available on Pottermore. I like turning Danish subtitles on Netflix as well with whatever I'm watching, and I know some animated movies have Danish dubs. Right now, the biggest show in Denmark is, of course, Forbrydelsen, which I've heard is a must-see. If you like Forbrydelsen, then you'll probably like Broen. (Scandinavian TV is like 80% crime noir) Finally, if you feel like you're at a level where you understand Danish pretty well, then I'd recommend branching out into other Scandinavian TV. Recently, I've been watching Skam (Norwegian), which is AMAZING.

Hope that helped! <3

Pretty well, yeah! It's easier with the subtitles (even if it's in Swedish or Norwegian). If there's something I don't understand, I usually rewind it and it becomes clearer. I'm not sure if Duolingo gets you to that point, but I'm sure if you watch more shows in Danish, then Swedish and Norwegian gets easier.

How do you turn on danish sub in Netflix. I always only have English sub and German sub (I'm in Germany) available. Is there a trick?

I live in Asia, but I have the language of my Netflix in Danish. If you go to 'your account', then there's the option to change everything to Danish. Once everything's in Danish, the subs become available. I don't think that there's another way other than that, sorry!

You can see all different kinds of Danish shows on dr.dk. It's completely free and it's the Danish main channel so to speak.
