Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Duo needs a Social tab if it is to see more interaction

The social function is not very well-integrated into Duolingo as of now. When I come across a user who has certain expertise (I especially remember Menschenkind, among others, whose advice I almost always find helpful and who, b/c the lack of interactive potentials, I couldn't "mention" or otherwise get this post to his attention), I'd also like to see more of his/her ideas and eventually be able to interact further with him/her.

Also needed in the Social tab is a list showing Follower/Following relations just like in Twitter or something. Comments and posts made across the site should also be neatly collected in the Social tab to ensure full responsiveness and interaction.

Why don't you follow those users that you want to keep track of? You can then see their activity, posts, etc. in your stream, and they will show up in your leaderboard on your home page.

Indeed, but my point is that this interactive function is just not THAT perfectly accessible...

Might be helpful- but would like to know how it would work first.

Very good idea. Would be good to have a forum to practice reading and posting the a different language.

For starters it would be nice if I was able to see who is following me, so I can maybe follow back / find another learner more easily.

There should be a better way to find people we would be interested in following, besides searching through the discussion lists. Language being studied, level, planet of origin, continent. I'm sure there are a lot of learners in Duo ,we might have some reason to follow or friend , but can't connect with. Any ideas- let me know.

Agreed. It would be great to chat or at least email to other users, especially to those of other countries who speak my target language and are learning my native language. Other language learning apps offer this feature.
