Just to say very much is not at all natural English here - some alternatives below or "I overboiled the vegetables" or "overcooked" them.

Haha, the English can't cook... (at least 'till Jamie came). You know the saying about English cuisine: First they kill the animal and than they kill the meat... (Also vegetables) And yes I'm from the Netherlands, our kitchen is also not exquisite, hahaha....
