https://www.firstonetv.eu/en/countries

I've literally come across this resource today, so if you read the FAQs, you know everything I know - I can't answer any other questions! - it just looks like it's interesting and potentially helpful.

(I opened one of the Estonian stations and got a programme in Russian. Maybe the universe is trying to hint rather unsubtly that I need to practise more before I make an attempt on Estonian...)

I get the feeling it's mostly European countries, though there are some American streams too, it seems. Maybe it's European languages? There's no Hebrew either :'(

Which ones of the Russian channels are state controlled and which are independent?

I imagine you need to Google to find that out. I doubt the website has that kind of information.

I did find a Russian-language programme on one of the Estonian channels, so if you're desperate for Russian-language programming that's entirely divorced from the Russian state...

I believe you too know about the information campaigns that propagate the disinformation, run by the Russian state controlled media. Knowledge about the possible bias is vital in contextualizing the content.

But thanks for pointing that out. I had the impression that they've grown thin.

As for what I'm looking for, that would be insight.

Well like I said... Google. It shouldn't be that difficult to find out which channel(s) are state run. I don't have that information at my fingertips, and I can't imagine the site does either, but it's not hard to find out. I'm honestly not sure why you're asking me when a few minutes in Google would answer your question. I don't run the site, I only recently discovered it, and I haven't used it extensively. All told, I'm a poor source of information, especially when there are good search engines who can likely answer your questions in minutes.

Oh, yes, the question was for all the community, since this is a public forum. Not asking especially from you. And, you never know what you learn when you're asking questions, so I generally prefer discussion over Google, if I have to make a choice.

That said, I am able to search information on the Internet, as are almost all the people on earth nowadays. Guiding people to Google is not really advancing the discussion in any way, and could even be considered passive-aggressive. I hope that's not your intention, and you're genuinely trying to be helpful.

In addition, this discussion could have emerged as one that turns up in searches about the topic. Google does not host information.

edit: The nature of this discussion is highly unproductive and I wish not to keep on with it, since it has nothing to do with the question I made. Instead it focuses on irrelevant, for the reasons unknown to me. It feels almost that you are offended by the question, but I couldn't come up with a reason why. My question is based on curiosity towards the experience of people, not trying to claim that you're a propagandist of any sort.

I just find it irrelevant to this thread.

I merely offered up a source of language practice. When I posted it, frankly, I had no interest in a conversation about what is and is not a state sponsored channel in Russia, and I don't think it's particularly germane to the discussion.

If you want to talk about that, then maybe post about it in the Russian forum or on a political forum elsewhere.
