Lost streak

Hi everyone. I just lost my 48 day streak for absolutely no reason (I know that I did it yesterday as I do it at the same time every day) and I am annoyed because I worked really hard to keep it up! Did anyone else lose their streak today? I am thinking that it may be a mistake on Duolingo's end..! Thank you

I also lost a streak of 68 days for no apparent reason. No time zone change, cell phone had a good connection throughout the day, XP gained was well over my daily goal. The only change was that I did my lessons in the early morning instead of the afternoon. I also noted that the strengthening lessons that I completed did not bring the status back to gold, even when I repeated them. On a side note I lost a wager as a result of this hiccup.

Not sure if this is going to help, but could you be in a different time zone or maybe you could have done it one the Mobile app? The three most common reasons for this are:

  • you're working on a phone or a tablet, and your phone / tablet hasn't been able to synchronise its data with the server.

  • your daily target is set to more XP than you did yesterday.

  • you've travelled across timezones, and Duolingo's using the time zone you travelled from.

The first is the most likely - that your mobile device hasn't synchronised.

It's always a good idea to buy a streak freeze if you care about your streak, and to check every now and then that it's still active. It's also a good idea to check that your phone / tablet has synchronised with the server.

The best way is to log onto the website and see if your XP is there. The next best option is to use task manager to end the Duolingo app, then restart it and wait for it to update its tree and see what it shows. That's not perfectly reliable, but it's usually enough.
